Doctor Zeki Tunc was born on January 1, 1961 in Düzce. Between the years 1979 to 1985 he studied at Dokuz Eylül University in faculty of medicine. He started his ophthalmology career in 1988 at Pierre et Marie Curie University Vl PARIS and worked was as an assistant at Laennec Faculty of Medicine Necker, and Centre National d'Ophtalmologie des Quinze Vingts PARIS hospitals. During the period of assistance due to his achievements at the University of PARIS XII, he was elected as "Chef de Clinique" in Refractive Surgery (myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism treatment).

Zeki Tunc was one of the pioneers in Laser Eximer therapy in France. In addition, Dr.Tunc having the formation of orbito-palpebral surgery, described "Evisceration With Scleral Autograft Technique" and has led this technique to the literature of ophthalmology in the world. This new technique of evisceration approved by authorities in 1997 and master thesis about orbito-palpebral surgery has been prepared in France. Tunc Evisceration Technique was the subject of an ophthalmology thesis as well as in Turkey in 1998, and was successful.
Dr. Tunc was one of the pioneers in seamless drip Phacoemulsification cataract operations in France in 1995.

In 1997, working in Paris,Dr. Tunc was proposed to establish the Metropolitan Florence Nightingale Hospital Eye Service, upon which he came back to Turkey. In 1997, he was the first doctor in Turkey applying the technique of phacoemulsification with topical anesthesia (anesthetic drip needle) to all patients.

Dr.Tunc is one of the rare surgeon invited to Live Surgery (live surgery during the meeting) meetings in France and Turkey.

He was also one of the pioneers in the treatment of myopia with Laser in 1991 in France and was the only foreigner participated in Homologation study settled by the French Ministry of Health. Currently, he applies myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism treatments with LASIK and Femtosecond laser technologies.

Dr. Tunc is one of the pioneers in Neodymium-YAG laser cataract operation( "laser-phaco" studies) and practical applications related to this issue. He developed Tunc Laser-Phaco Phaco probe for Laser Fako. For his contributions related to the laser-phaco technique American Paradigm Firm has chosen him as a member of the research group and surgeon publicity team.

Dr. Tunc was the first surgeon starting to the reversible myopia surgery with the application of intrastromal ring (corneal ring) in Turkey in 1997. With his experience in "Intrastromal Ring" application he put into practice the treatment of keratoconus which is an incurable disease and pioneered this issue around the world.On 8 May 2000, in Paris, he reported the first results of "intrastromal ring" application in the treatment of keratoconus at the French Congress of Ophthalmology and were published abroad. At the same Paris convention, five-year results of the for the Tunc Evisceration Technique presented by the French team and the success of the technique was re-emphasized. Subsequently, due to the consistency of success in the treatment of keratoconus, on May 10, 2002 he presented his paper in the congress in Paris and his paper published in the Journal Français d'Ophtalmologie in November 2003.

Following up the Cataract and Refractive Surgery closely he is a member of the Turkish Society of Ophthalmology, Societe Francaise d'Ophtalmologie, American Academy of Ophthalmology, European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeon, Cataract and Refractive Associations. For his contributions cataract and refractive surgery he has been elected as the active member of the Turkish Society of Ophthalmology Cataract and Refractive Surgery. Moreover he has been elected as the Turkish delegate of the French Ophthalmology Society.

His hobbies are motorcycling, snowboarding, skiing, tennis, windsurfing and kite surfing.
