What is Cataract?
Cataract is the loss of transparency of the transparent lens of the eye. The most common reason for cataract is aging, but cataracts can occur due to some other reasons such as, diabetes, ultraviolet rays, shock to the eyes or previous eye surgery.
About Cataract Surgery
Phacoemulsification (usually known as laser) cataract surgery method, topical anesthesia with eye drop and seamless surgery is being conducted. Cataract removed in the eye and a artificial lens is placed. Operation time varies depending on the type of cataract density, but it lasts an average of 10 minutes. However, including the need of preoperative preparation and postoperative eye rest periods, the patient spends approximately 3 hours at the hospital. Accommodation at the hospital is not necessary after surgery. Generally the controls are done at the first postoperative day and fifth day after surgery, moreover according to need your doctor will determine some other checks.
